Strategy

Strategy and Consulting.

Strategy and Consulting is senior direction on positioning, market entry and brand architecture, set by a founding partner and held to one accountable standard. It is the entry point to every other Denion service: the position is set first, then the identity, the channels and the systems are built to carry it.

The Problem

Market-entry and brand-architecture decisions made without senior review tend to be delegated to whoever is available. The brand then drifts: each channel argues a slightly different position, and no single person answers for the whole.

How We Solve It

A founding partner sets the direction directly, on the evidence of market and competitor research. The work is reviewed at a fixed cadence, with access between reviews, so every later piece of work can be checked against one stated position.

What's Included

Everything inside Strategy and Consulting.

  • Market and competitor research
  • Positioning and the case for choosing the brand
  • Market-entry and expansion planning, country by country
  • Brand architecture across brands, divisions and products
  • Audience and buying-journey mapping
  • Channel and investment priorities
  • Partner review of client-facing work before it leaves
  • Quarterly strategic review with a founding partner
  • Direct partner access between reviews
  • A written strategy the whole team can work from

Who It Is For

A brand entering a new country

The product works at home, but nobody has set out how it will be bought in the new market, who it competes with there or what has to change before launch.

A group with several brands or divisions

Each unit has grown its own look and message. The group needs one architecture that decides what is shared, what is separate and how they relate.

A founder-led company that has outgrown instinct

The business has been steered by feel. Now there are hires, channels and budgets, and decisions need a position to be tested against.

How It Works

  1. STEP 1

    Brief and discovery

    Week 1

We take the brief, the commercial goal and the constraints, and agree what the strategy has to decide.

  2. STEP 2

    Research

    Weeks 1 to 3

Market, competitor and buyer research, using the sources the category relies on.

  3. STEP 3

    Position and architecture

    Weeks 3 to 5

A founding partner sets the position and, where needed, the brand and market architecture.

  4. STEP 4

    Review and agreement

    Week 6

The strategy is presented, challenged and agreed, then written up so it can be handed to any team.

  5. STEP 5

    Standing review

    Quarterly

Where strategy runs inside a Plan, a partner reviews progress against the position each quarter.

What You Receive

  • Positioning statement and the supporting argument
  • Brand or market architecture map
  • Market-entry plan, where the brief calls for one
  • Priorities for channels and investment
  • Written strategy document
  • Partner review notes on later work

FAQ

Is this the same as Partner Direction?+

Related but distinct. Partner Direction is a review layer added to delivery on any Plan, at 35% on top. Strategy and Consulting is direction as its own scoped Service or Package.

Who does the work?+

A founding partner sets the direction directly. It is not handed to a specialist or an account manager to carry out on their behalf.

Is it available as a one-time engagement?+

Yes. It is scoped as an individual Service, folded into a market-entry Package, or run as a standing line inside a Business, Business Plus or Enterprise Plan.

What do we need to bring to the start?+

The commercial goal, the markets and products in scope, and any existing research. Where research does not exist, it is the first stage of the work.

Does the strategy include execution?+

The strategy is the decision. Identity, content, media and systems are separate services, which can then be bought individually, as a Package or inside a Plan.

How long is a strategy engagement?+

Typically about six weeks from brief to a written, agreed strategy. A market-entry Package runs ten to twelve weeks because it carries execution as well.
